Background Clinical Research

The CANDO project are undertaking a number of clinical research studies. Details of which can be found below.

At this time, recruitment into these studies is directly through clinics at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne. This is in line with NHS ethical approvals.

Newcastle Epilepsy Surgery Database

CANDO supports the Newcastle Epilepsy Surgery Database, a centralised repository for information on patients who are part of the epilepsy surgery program at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The data collected will be used to audit the routine clinical care of patients entering the epilepsy surgery program, as well as a tool for identifying patterns within the clinical information and investigations which potentially lead to improved surgical outcomes. It will also be used to support research aimed at improving our understanding of epilepsy and developing new methods for the clinical investigation of epilepsy.
